Technology Helps Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to empower our communities and improve lives by harnessing the power of technology.
From providing access to technology devices and support to advancing cybersecurity and erasing barriers to emergency food sources, join our journey as we eliminate technology poverty and build a better society for all.
Connectivity Initiative
Provides equity-deserving community members with comprehensive access to technology. Technology access makes the biggest impact in people’s lives when it covers the areas of Access, Skills, Support and Security. Through our projects, equity-deserving communities can unlock the potential of technology and become digital-ready.
We partner with iKare4Kids to restore and refurbish portable wireless devices such as iPads and tablets to give them back to critically ill or disabled children who are financially restrained. This helps bring some joy into their medical journey and relieve some stress from their families. This project also provides those families with a tool to access vital medical information and for the children to continue with their education, allowing children to remain on track with their education while on treatment and providing the needed distractions from the stress and anxiety of their medical situation.
We are proud to be a trusted partner of the City of Calgary to administer and support the AHA program. Through this pilot program, we receive old enterprise computers (laptops and desktops) from the City, diagnose and set up those devices as new to giveaway to equity-deserving households in the Fair Entry program. Our commitment to this pilot program also includes after-service once the machines are sent out to the families. Every device comes with a dedicated support phone line and email to resolve any assistance requests and ensure that the recipients are fully supported.
A lack of adequate computer technology is leaving many community members behind. Computers and internet access play a vital role in education, health care access, mental well-being, employment while being a parent/caregiver, and countless other aspects of everyday life. By repurposing used technology, we not only help people, but we also reduce our environmental footprint.
